Try Youth and Community Services

The aim of Try is to provide programs that assist disadvantaged young people who are prepared to “give it a try” and who are ready to develop educationally, physically, creatively and spiritually with skills that will prepare them for work and leisure and taking their place as good citizens.

Their motto is very simply

“If you Try hard enough, you can succeed.”

Try Youth & Community Services is a not-for-profit, non denominational organisation which was formed in 1883 and conducts or sponsors youth and community service programs throughout Victoria. Some of their programs are:

  • Vacation Care programs which offer a safe and nurturing environment whilst entertaining children during their school holidays
  • The “Our Future, Our Place” program which equips long-term unemployed participants with a broad range of skills to enter the workforce in either building or construction related employment.
  • The Kids Who Care program which provides respite camps for kids who are the carer for a parent or sibling.
