Bendigo Bank

In the late 1990’s a new type of banking model came onto Australia’s banking scene. Bendigo’s Community Bank, today, almost 20 years later, there are more than 313 Community Bank® branches throughout Australia. These Branches share profits with their local Australian communities, $165 million in profits have been invested in Australian communities since 1998.

In addition to the community bank support of local projects and groups the Bendigo Bank supports a large number of community ventures, too many for me to try and list, instead I will highlight a couple.

In 2014, Bendigo Bank became a major sponsor of Earth Hour, the single largest mass participation event of its kind in the world. Earth Hour aims to focus the World’s attention on climate change, including the threat of climate change on the Great Barrier Reef and Australia’s food security. Bendigo Bank encourages staff and customers to take part in Earth Hour annually by switching off their lights.

For over a decade, Bendigo Bank has been the Principal Regional Partner of Orchestra Victoria, taking live orchestral music and educational workshops to communities across Victoria that the orchestra would not otherwise have been able to reach. The On the mOVe education program provides music development opportunities for young regional musicians and teachers, and culminates in the students joining the full orchestra in a concert. Bringing the joy of music to communities across regional Victoria.

The Bendigo Bank scholarship program makes a significant difference to hard working and talented students by helping them cover some of the costs of living and studying at university.

Bendigo Bank is indeed a Good Corporate Citizen.
