Mike Brady

“Out there and at ’em” is a line from musician Mike Brady’s most famous song, Up There Cazaly, credited with being the most popular song ever recorded by an Australian artist in Australia, but it could apply equally to Brady himself.

Australia’s most successful jingle-maker has been ”out there” for worthy causes for many years – patron of the Bali Children Foundation and Australian Huntington’s Disease Association (Victoria), supporter of the Fairhaven Surf Life Saving Club and Melbourne Legacy, celebrity ambassador for both Australia Day and the Yooralla Society.

He has been a board director of Variety Victoria for many years and a board member of the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia for which he wrote one of his catchy jingles, Talk About It. Brady, who was made an AM for his work for the community and music once said ‘’Entertainers often get asked to perform to support charities, I’ve taken them seriously.”

Brady’s musical output has been prolific – everything from his classic footy anthems, Cazaly and One Day in September. His commercial jingles – including Hard Yakka and Lucky You’re with AAMI – seem to float effortlessly from his guitar.

Mike Brady’s has always promoted Australian music. His studio recorded many well-known artists, Joe Dolce with his hit “Shut upa Your Face”, “You’re here to Win”, the theme song for the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane and “One Day in September” the theme for the VFL Grand Final up until 1987. He also wrote and produced “That’s what I like about football” which was a hit for Greg Champion. Mike has achieved much in his career and has used his talents to support many worthy causes.
